Noti Yarns isn’t just a business; it’s a heartfelt homage to a transformative journey and cherished memories. After 30+ years in corporate America, I discovered my true calling in hand dyeing—a path that unfolded beautifully and unexpectedly. The name “Noti Yarns” is a tribute to my mother, whose name inspired the company and whose unwavering support has been a cornerstone of my life.
My journey into dyeing began serendipitously when my friend, Jenn, invited me to a local knit night. Immersed in the vibrant world of yarn, I realized the available yarns didn’t quite match my creative vision. That’s when Simon, a talented knitter, designer, and dyer, stepped in to teach me the art of dyeing. What started as a personal experiment soon blossomed into Noti Yarns, as my unique and vivid colorways captivated others.
My dyeing process revolves around creating a strong base colorway and layering colors to craft distinctive, complementary skeins. I blend speckles and variegation to simplify color coordination, removing the complexity often associated with traditional color theory. Each skein is designed to inspire creativity and enhance your crafting experience, ensuring that every project is both beautiful and effortlessly coordinated.
Throughout this journey, my sister has been my biggest fan. From our childhood to adult life, she has proudly displayed my creations, even those from high school that might not have been the height of fashion. To this day, she exchanges my samples to wear them proudly to work and social events. Her unwavering support and pride in my work are deeply cherished, and I cannot express enough the love and pride I have for her.
Following my mother’s passing in 2023, I took a step back from fiber festivals and social media to realign my priorities. This period of reflection led me to leave corporate America and devote myself fully to Noti Yarns—a venture that honors my mother’s memory and my newfound passion. Now, I’m reinvigorated and excited to share my love for color blending and create stunning yarns that inspire and elevate your projects.
